My Story
In 1974, my grandfather and namesake Rino Brochetto, an Italian immigrant, came to the Klein Karoo and found our perfect piece of land nestled between the mountains of Montagu and Barrydale. Here he established the first commercial almond farm in South Africa. As the third generation family business, we are still going strong. With Amanteco as our wholesaler, The Almond Girl is the latest addition to the family business catering for the grab ‘n go customer.
My aim is to bring the freshest and highest quality of local almonds to you, to share with your friends and family. Grown on our family farm in a valley in the Little Karoo. I also have olive oil to offer as we planted a small orchard of olive trees.
As an avid trail runner, I am often asked what snacks I take up the mountains. I am lucky enough to have an abundance of fresh almonds when packing my trail snacks. A handful of almonds can go a long way, and why not pack a few chocolate coated almonds as a little reward for getting to the top of the mountain?
