Basic Almond Butter
A Simple and Delicious Homemade Spread
Got a handful of almonds sitting in your cupboard? Transform them into a delectable spread with this foolproof Basic Almond Butter recipe. Perfect for spreading on toast, drizzling over apple slices, or adding to your smoothies, this homemade almond butter is a versatile and healthy addition to your kitchen.
Ingredients
- 3 cups almonds
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
Method
- Toast the Almonds:
- Place almonds in a pan over medium heat and toast until they release their natural oils and brown slightly.
- Blend the Ingredients:
- Transfer the toasted almonds, salt, and honey (if using) into a blender. Start on the lowest speed and blend for about 30 seconds to 1 minute until coarsely chopped.
- Increase the speed and blend for an additional 1 to 2 minutes until a smooth paste forms, scraping down the sides as needed. For a smoother, runnier almond butter, blend on high for an extra 1 to 2 minutes.
- Store the Almond Butter:
- Using a spatula, scoop the almond butter into an airtight container or a glass jar of your choice.
Note: Natural oil separation may occur over time. Simply stir well before use.
